Warm Gray Wool Gabardine Trousers

Not many fabrics can match the versatility of gabardine for year-round trousers, both in terms of appearance and practicality. However, finding a proper one nowadays isn't easy - until our extensive searches led us to Japan and its few specialized woolen mills. There, we found the perfect mid-weight, densely-woven twill with a "vintage" finish that gives the fabric a matte, springy texture and resistance to creasing.

Back in Poland, we decided to cut tailored trousers from it, just in time for the transitional season - perfect for that odd period of the year when it's already a bit too warm for flannels but not hot enough for tropical wools. For the cut, we opted for the classic mid-to-high rise, single-pleated, belt-loop-equipped style, finished off with turn-ups. Compared to trousers from previous seasons, we've added a bit of volume throughout the whole leg for a more comfortable, relaxed fit.

Our gabardine trousers work well with sport coats, shirts, and ties for a tailored look, as well as jacket-off, knitwear "casual chic" ensembles. The pair in the usual warm shade of grey (which could as well be called "grey-brown") serves as a more directional, vintage-esque alternative to your standard grey odd trousers. It can evoke the 30s, 70s, 90s, or 2020s - depending on what you pair it with. For the most classic and elegant look, opt for the dark sport coat, dark tie, and light shirt - or go the other way and replace the tailored upper part of your outfit with dark knitwear for the casual-yet-sophisticated after hours look.
