Waiting for the Spring: Western Noir Capsule
Spring is just around the corner… but it’s definitely not here yet. In fact, it’s not even przedwiośnie (yes, we have a separate name for that pre-spring season in Polish) here in Katowice; no glimpse of hope in the freezing cold we’re experiencing this week! So, this year, before we release our pre-spring collection (a tradition now), we wanted to introduce a dark-colored Western Noir microcapsule that bids farewell to this time of year in style, but can be worn well into the months ahead.
This selection of products perhaps deserves an explanation, as we delve deeper into the black color territory we haven’t properly explored yet.
It’s not our first time working with black, not even outside the accessories category - remember our Modern Vintage fall drop and that spectacular heavy, long black coat? - but it’s probably the first time we’re doing it so casually.
Partly inspired by Johnny Cash’s famous all-black look, we set out to create our own interpretation, suited to the Everyday Classic style needs…
…but with a western hat added to complement the outfit, cowboy-style, as we’ve always felt that it would top it off nicely. Sometimes you just need a stronger accessory, right?
By the way, the story behind this hat is quite interesting itself. The idea to create it emerged after Polkap, our go-to hat manufacturer from Skoczów, Poland, suffered damage during last September’s flood (ironically, in the year they were celebrating their 100th anniversary!). To help get the factory up and running again, they began collecting orders from collaborators and revisiting designs from their archive - and we were happy to contribute our part.
Together, we settled on this silverbelly-colored design, deeply rooted in the western style we find ourselves more and more attracted to. It features the characteristic western crown but is balanced with a shorter brim that makes it more understated and easier to wear in the city. A true standout piece that gets the spotlight among the novelties!
Other items - black selvedge jeans and a black corduroy western shirt - prove themselves even more versatile in less ‘cowboy’-screaming outfits. The former joins our line-up of Everyday Classic denim that’s currently getting a little upgrade (more on that soon!); the latter doubles as an overshirt, with its hefty corduroy fabric and western details adding loads of character.
Keep in mind that all the pieces in this outfit can be worn well into the gradually warming months ahead, with the hat perfectly suited for a truly western heat, jeans destined to enter your daily rotation, and the shirt ready to switch between base, mid, and outer layers depending on the weather. As for Chelsea boots and accessories - these are basics, no need to overthink these.
