Everyday Classic, In Print

Everyday Classic, In Print

The idea for a printed magazine had been on my mind for years – it was bound to happen. And here it is: the first physical issue of Everyday Classic!

I’ve always been an avid reader. Growing up, my father would bring home Rzeczpospolita daily. Back then, the paper’s colored pages signified different sections, and I would pick out the most interesting ones – some editions I kept for years. Later, during my university times, I kept buying newspapers on my own – mostly dailies rather than magazines – like Rzeczpospolita, Wyborcza, or Sport.

Today, I still have a soft spot for beautifully designed, interesting, and comprehensive publications. It’s no secret I’m a big fan of Monocle magazine (as evidenced by the copies you’ll find in the Poszetka Concept store). Occasionally, I even borrow magazines from the girls, as here in Poland these tend to be much better made.

To me, print feels inherently expert. It carries a certain weight, is tangible and physical, and the words printed on it seem more deliberate.

I’m also incredibly proud of our blog – yes, this one – and I view the content on it as expert too. I’ve often mentioned how much I appreciate it and how I feel it deserves to be published!

At some point, during the pandemic around 2021, the concept of a book, The Poszetka Alphabet, even emerged. Ultimately, it never came to fruition – and maybe that’s for the best. We didn’t quite feel right about a book… but what about a magazine?

Especially since there’s another element at play – photography. We work with amazing photographers, and the work of Radek, Grzesiek, and Camilla deserves more than just a digital medium. A magazine is a fantastic way to preserve and showcase their work, giving it a platform that truly honors it.

Moreover, this ties into building connections across distances – Poszetka Worldwide. A recurring publication, a regular touchpoint, a tangible bridge in these digital times. Something more.

Was this idea absurd at the start? Probably! After all, publishing a brand new print magazine in this day and age? Taking on such a project as a (still) relatively small brand? Investing into an analogue, not digital medium?

And yet: is this idea quintessentially ours? Oh yes, absolutely!

I see this as a clear continuation of what we’ve been working towards over the past year. We’re more decisive, better defined, and the Everyday Classic concept is becoming a reality. Over the past year, I believe this idea has reached a wider audience, and you’ve been able to see what lies behind the slogan. Naturally, it became the title of the magazine. It was the logical next step in the path we’re proudly walking.

We’re committed to this – especially because at some point, we came to the unfortunate realization that there isn’t a magazine like this in Poland. Such content simply doesn’t exist here, and we’re ambitious enough to create it!

Our ambitions are further fueled by the incredible people within the Poszetka circle – experts in their respective fields, doing fascinating things. While their work isn’t always directly tied to fashion, it touches on the broader lifestyle spectrum. We invited them to join the project, which is why within the pages of Everyday Classic, you’ll find articles about architecture, travel, history, and automotive culture, as well as, of course, our beloved Katowice. Everyday Classic is about more than just clothing. And it is, as we felt it is absolutely necessary, bilingual - published both in Polish and English

Here, I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved – to our wonderful publishing team (Justyna, Teresa, Bogdan!), to our contributors (Natalia and Radek, Ania and Marcin, Michał, Mikołaj, Błażej!), and to Mateusz for his invaluable conceptual and editorial input (and the translations). Oh, and of course, to the entire Poszetka team (and to you, Truda!), without whom none of this would have been possible.

Enjoy!

(now officially) Editor-in-Chief, Tomasz Godziek

As a teaser, we are also publishing an introduction, also penned by Tomek:

*You are now reading the first issue of the Everyday Classic magazine – this is our perspective on men’s fashion in which you can feel good, up-to-date and yet timeless. The fashion that you can draw from every day – and this is precisely what we will urge you to do here.

However, the words “Everyday Classic” are so much more than just men’s fashion, so the magazine goes deep like a Silesian mine – mining for the best stuff from different seams:*

  • We’ll see the Katowice architecture through the eyes of Radek and Natalia of AIAGA (as you know, I’m a huge fan of this city, so forgive my bias)
  • We’ll dig up a “retired blogger”, Mikołaj Pawełczak a.k.a. Blue Loafers
  • Together with Michał Kędziora we’ll recall our work on the Baltic collection
  • Together with Wędrowne Motyle [The Wandering Butterflies] we’ll go on a tour of Como along the curvy paths of silk
  • We’ll expose Błażej Żuławski’s automotive games...
  • ...all that while adding our own fuel to the mix, preparing stories such as the account of our trip to the Dolomites and a report from the unique Bottoli weaving mill, which has specialized in the production of undyed wool fabrics for over 150 years.

Last but not least, a complete novelty makes its debut in this issue: our new Working Class line. You must see it!
