Afternoon in Our Neighborhood

Afternoon in Our Neighborhood

…spent just having fun with the team, learning to shoot 35mm film, and wearing Early Spring’s clothes (and layers) in the process.

You see, beyond being colleagues, we’re also friends - we like to go out together, enjoying time spent talking, laughing, and debating (often lively). And while our conversations aren’t only about work and clothes… well, let’s be honest, they often are. Tomek may or may not usually join our escapades, but this March, he’s recovering from knee surgery - wishing him a speedy recovery! - so we’ll make up for it next time. It’s only us, the boys, at the moment.

Hopefully, our photography skills will improve by then, too. Right now, we’re not quite there yet - but in our defense, we’re all amateurs working with less-than-perfect (read: malfunctioning) vintage cameras, two Soviet-era Zenits and one equally aged Minolta. Still, somehow, we managed to fill up a few rolls of Kodak ProImage 100, even scoring a couple of in-focus, properly exposed frames. Beniamin, Kuba, and Mateusz all gave it their best shot, while Michał and Paweł captured their first-ever photos that day as we passed the cameras around. Beginner’s luck, maybe?

Alright, enough about photography - after all, this is the Everyday Classic blog, so let’s talk about what we wore that afternoon.

March weather in Katowice? Unpredictable. Maybe where you live, it already feels like spring - but here, it can feel like three different seasons in a single day. Freezing cold nights, chilly mornings, and deceptively warm afternoons - but only if you’re standing in the sun! - mean it’s that time of year when pairing a summer-ready shirt with a winter coat feels totally appropriate. And when you factor in the mix of styles within a whole group? Things get even more interesting!

Our newest team member, Kuba - whom you might recognize from our Early Spring lookbook - has already nailed the Everyday Classic aesthetic. It doesn’t get much more literal than a pairing of jeans, an OCBD shirt, a sportcoat, and an optional tie, right?

It’s either his natural instinct or a careful read of the Essentials article in our printed magazine that helped him adjust so quickly!

Balancing out the marketing (“The Młyn”) team’s level of formality, Beniamin - who has seemingly been with Poszetka forever - took a more relaxed approach, dressing down the same black denim with a new fun shirt and a WWCCC-label sweatshirt, ready to be thrown on when temperatures drop.

"Polish Preppy," don’t you think?

The same contrast in formality could be seen in the Poszetka Katowice showroom team - Paweł (above) all dressed up in his MTM flannel suit and Ancient Madder tie, with a Working Class series raincoat layered over for a stylish contrast, while Michał (below) opted for a casual overshirt, balanced with custom wide-leg tailored trousers.

Headphones on for the vibes.

We wandered through the Koszutka district - our neighborhood - before ending up in front of Spodek, a modernist landmark of Katowice. That’s where we snapped our last, slightly overexposed portraits as the sun was quickly setting behind the high-rises…

…and that’s how our spontaneous, friendly shoot wrapped up.

Will you be seeing more analog photography from us here on the blog? Well, let’s see how things develop (sorry, had to) with our skills.

Until next time!
