Charcoal Covert Wool Trousers

We see covert cloth as the winter version of gabardine - it drapes exceptionally well, holds a crease, and is incredibly durable, standing up to daily wear. It's no surprise given the fabric's origins: this densely woven steep twill began its life as a riding cloth, initially for coats and later for trousers and full suits.

The proper weight (440g) of the fabric we use makes it ideal for both its practical qualities - requiring less frequent pressing - and for thermal comfort. To match the fabric’s comfort and the covert’s character, we’ve opted for a roomier cut (similar to our gabardine trousers) featuring a classic mid-to-high rise, single pleats, turn-ups, and, perhaps most importantly, belt loops. Also, these trousers, just as the flannel ones, are now tailored locally in Poland, in the Silesia region we’re based at - and we’re proud of that!

These trousers look (and feel) great when paired with autumn and winter sportcoats made from tweed, flannel, or other thick woolens. The three shades we’ve introduced this season—charcoal, dark green (char-green), and dark brown (char-brown)—pair beautifully with darker tones, serving as the perfect base for subtle business combinations or British country-inspired looks.

The charcoal variant works especially well in tonal gray, black, and white combinations, and can also serve as an elegant, chic choice for evening wear - think of pairing these with a black turtleneck, black chelsea boots and a thin, 1” belt, for example!
